After having read his other 2 books, I was so looking forward to reading Ralph Peterson’s new book, “Congratulations Now Get Over Yourself.†It did NOT disappoint. This book has all the humor yet real situations you find in his other books but told in short quick, easy to digest chapters. I love that you never know what you are going to get when you delve into each separate chapter. The book is honest and eye opening for anyone, not just managers. Definitely a 5 star book!
What a wonderful book! I digested it like it was my favorite meal! Ralph reminded me of why I am in management and affirmed the many lessons I have learned, giving me support and assurance that I am continuing to learn and grow! Management isn't for the faint of heart but it IS for those of us with humility and humor! Thank you Ralph and please...write more!Ruth Angelo
I loved reading the often-humorous incident sketches, and the method of applying it to your own situation. Ralph's way of teaching makes it easy to remember, something I wish I would have had the many times I've been put 'in charge.' His way is so much more humane than using a whip and a chair! A fun read!!
Ralph Peterson provides insight from a perspective that any reader can relate to whether a manager, soon to be manager or employee. He crafts insightful passages that allow the reader to have their own "ah-ha" moment and realize that the nuances of day to day living provide the tools that anyone can use to be a good manager.
I really enjoyed the short life-lessons and stories connected with the way the book is written. It brings life to subjects that are too often delivered in a textbook format. Really enjoyed this!
This falls perfectly in line with the rest of Peterson’s writing style and makes for yet again, a fantastic read. His short story style chapters mix with thought provoking lessons, while encapsulating the ego of those in management in a humorously uncomfortably familiar way. Absolutely loved it!
Sometimes we just need to hear the cold, hard truth in order to improve a situation - or ourselves. Ralph Peterson's stories provide valuable lessons we can all learn from!
This is such a fun an insightful book. Each chapter stands on it's own, because each chapter is a story with a lesson at the end. Some of the lessons are spelled out and obvious, others are a little more subtle, but that is what made the book so much fun for me. I will promise you the book will go by quickly. It is as if you are standing right next Ralph as the story is happening and rather than read it you recognizing you are feeling what he felt, wanting to share your own ideas, but in the end the sage wisdom of a seasoned leader comes through. I can't wait to read it again!
