"The Bazaar Of Bad Dreams" is a compelling compendium of 18 short stories and two poems , some old and revised, some new, ranging from 10 pages to 50 pages each.Some have a supernatural influence while most portray horrors associated with real life rather than ghosts, aliens, and monsters. This seems to bother some of the reviewers but in reality, King has broadened his genre considerably over the past two decades. The offerings are somewhat connected by King's comments on when or why he wrote each story and by related themes of death, afterlife, guilt, and remorse.King never shrinks from utilizing the English language as attested by some of his monumental tomes and continuing series. Yet he is equally renowned for his ability to write shorter concise and gripping stories as seen in his various collections of short stories and novellas over the years, many of which became screenplays.Caveat: if you read and absorb everything King as I do, you will encounter tales in this collection that you have encountered before in one form or another--such is the nature of collected short story volumes. But each has been revised and updated where appropriate. Having enjoyed King's tales of haunted cars, such as "Christine" and "From A Buick 8", I especially enjoyed "Mile 81" which should make any driver rethink stopping at a rest stop along any public roadway. "Afterlife" presents a thought provoking choice that newly departed spirits must make. And "Obits" is a fascinating tale of horror that while not new, is imminently re-readable.If you have read King's works over the past decades and matured in life as his legacy continued to grow, you should enjoy and appreciate this new collection; indeed, the new material makes the volume worthwhile to me regardless of whether I have previously read some of the stories. I am only rating it with four stars as I selfishly would have liked to see a few more original offerings.

I make no secret of that fact that Stephen King is my favorite modern writer. His short stories thrill me, on the whole. None of them are mediocre and of course I have my personal beloved. This new collection of stories, some fresh off the presses, some previously published, has not disappointed. Not all are in your face horror. In fact many are more like cautionary tales; be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.King’s ease of using colloquialisms and not sounding corny or disparaging is part of what makes his stories so believable. Even the most insane and diabolical becomes possible when written in King’s original styles. Yes, I said styles. Because he fits the style of his stories to the moods, the characters, and the settings, without blinking an eye. From college professors to a wealthy bedridden man to the average Joe, King rolls them all out for our inspection.I have my favorites in this collection as well. "Ur" and "Under the Weather" top the list.To sum it all up, this is a profoundly diverse collection of stories that once again showcases Stephen King’s skill at entertaining his readers. I can highly recommend it without reservation.

The only thing I may look forward to more than a new Stephen King novel is a new collection of his short stories. Yes, I love Stephen King, but even being a Constant Reader doesn't prevent me from being willing to admit that the man can - and often does - go long on his word count. There's something rewarding, then, to see King rein himself in, forcing himself to do as much as he can in a far lower number of words. Of course, this being King, that doesn't rule out some longer pieces here - Ur was originally a novella released as a sort of trial balloon for the Kindle Singles program, and Blockade Billy as well was a small standalone novella previously released by King. Others are far shorter, including two brief poems both originally published in Playboy. But whatever the length, The Bazaar of Bad Dreams serves as a reminder of both King's talent and prodigious gift, to say nothing of his stellar range. There's the unsettling alien horror of "Mile 81," the Raymond Chandler homage of "Premium Harmony," the black comedy of "Drunken Fireworks," the grim look at human nature of "Morality," the haunting case of ruined dreams of "Herman Wouk Is Still Alive," and so much more. Want deranged, insane narrators? Enjoy "Under the Weather." Want a bizarre tale of a young child who seems to be evil incarnate? "Bad Little Kid" is for you. Want to read what feels like a mix between the climax of Revival and King's stint in physical therapy? Oh, man, will "The Little Green God of Agony" scratch that itch and give you some nightmares to boot. But whatever the story, they're all filled with King's rich voice, his ability to evoke humanity in every character, and a keen eye about the world that always rings true. And just when you think you've seen it all, he tosses out the concluding story, "Summer Thunder," which is a very different sort of story about the end of the world - one that's far more beautiful and heartfelt than you might expect. All in all, it's a fantastic collection, and if, like me, you're initially disappointed that you've read a few already, well, trust me: they're all worth reading again, and between King's rich introductions and the revisions he's made (mainly to Ur, but apparently to many), you'll enjoy them all over again. It's a great collection, and a reminder of what King can do, even without a broad canvas of pages to work on.

When I bought my copy of Mastering the Art of Sous Vide: Unlock the Versatility of Precision Temperature Cooking I didnt think it would be much more than support of a chef that I have been following on social media for a number of years. I have a collection of his recipes on speed search for bragging to acquaintances and passing on to friends. I received my copy and started reading through it and realized how informative it is for a cooking style I have never tried. Tips and tricks that Justice passes on are very appreciative for the home cook. When I started reading through the recipes with mouth watering pictures...oh boy...I think I might be inspired to try the sous vide method of cooking. The recipes are easy to follow which is a blessing to us regular cooks. I think this book would be a valuable asset to any cooking library you have. Thanks Chef Justice. I look forward to following you to your next chapter.

I thoroughly enjoyed this cook book. The photography is very well done and there’s quite a variety of recipes, and tips if you’re new to sous vide. Some of the recipes feature ingredients I’ve never heard of, and some I know I wouldn’t be able to find locally. But these recipes also offer alternatives to those ingredients which is nice. Admittedly my palette is probably not refined enough to truly appreciate some of these I will be trying out quite a few.It’s not pretentious and the recipes are easily understood. Some cook books expect people to know things they learned years ago in culinary school but I didn’t see that here, more like a friend just trying to help me out and make something tasty.

So excited to receive this book. I can't believe all the amazing recipes this has. My wife just found the Fejoada recipe. Her Brazilian aunt makes this and we are excited to try it sous vide style. I bought it hoping to support a fellow sous vide nerd, but i'm blown away at the recipes and the quality if the book. Sous vide nerds buy this book!

Let me start off by saying: I'm not a chef by any stretch of the imagination. I got into sous vide last year and was immediately hooked by how easy it is to turn out an amazing meal with just a little planning.This promises to be an excellent, and helpful, cookbook. Definitely what I needed to up my sous vide game. The photos are breathtaking, and the recipes that I've had a chance to look at sound amazing.I'm getting a kick out of the chapter titles as well, I've always been a sucker for alliteration.Looking forward to working my way through this book, and definitely hope to see more published.

It is a nice cookbook and I like the general cooking time chart but these are way more fancier that my family would eat. One recipe is veal tongue. If you like fancy food and are not picky, this would be a great book. But if you are looking for more family meals, I would buy something different.

If I could give this book more stars I would! I am a former instructor of Culinary Arts. We have used may book in training students to become chefs. Mastering the Art of Sous Vide is very well written and has easy to follow recipes along with images. It also give you instructions and tips to help you learn with ease. I highly recommend this book for home cooks and chefs who are learning the art of sous vide.

If you're ever in a position to hire, I would strongly recommend this book.Full disclosure, I know Zeljko personally, so there might be a slight bias in my rating. However, I'm not the one that easily agrees with others and when Zeljko was telling me about his hiring process I was sceptical to some aspects.After reading his book though, I'm convinced. In a very clear and data based manner he explained why certain commonly used and intuitive approaches to hiring (e.g. starting with reviewing CVs) don't work.

If you are looking for a clear scientific explanation of today's hiring best practices, Evidence-Based Hiring delivers. From job placement ads to interview questions, this book is a comprehensive resource for novice or experienced hiring managers.

I read an average of two to four books a week. To say I love to read is an understatement. I have always enjoyed stepping into different times and places as I became friends with both good and bad characters under a variety of circumstances. I am not a prude or squeamish and I read a wide variety of genres.That said, I also believe there is eroticism as part of the story, and then there is graphic debauchery with a little story. Mastering the Marchioness by Em Brown is the later, which is why I almost didn't finish it. The only reason that I did finish it was the budding love between Vale and Henrietta. I liked Henrietta much more than Vale from the beginning. By the last page, he was still was barely to the point of likable, but not by much.This is a 4 star story that is overloaded with M/M, F/F, M/F rated xxx sex, and all the vulgar language that goes with it...with some violence thrown in for bad measure.

This is one of the sickest tales EVER! He tortures his wife (literally) while wearing a mask so she does not know it is him (yeah right, I'm believing that) -- he gets horny behind all of this torturing and goes and repeatedly has anal sex with another man; a "friend." Don't we have enough mind controlled distortions in human sexuality without adding more? Sorry, not a romance tale but something out of Tales from the Crypt!!!!

His best friends sister seemed to be the perfect solution to his need for a wife and her families need for financial security. A marriage in name only was his thought, but the sweet child her remembers has grown into a beautiful woman with desires and needs of her own.I love a good historical romance. I also love a good bdsm erotic novel. This takes care of both delightfully! Wicked yet romantic and as sensual as it is sensitive. The characters are well rounded and interesting. The scenes in the Cavern were very well written. They went far beyond steamy. They were scorching hot! As an independent reviewer for Romance Authors that Rock, I give this one a full five hearts beating passionately!

Rape is unnaceptable! Always! (Even if it's husband and wife, NO!) This book made it even worse by the MC wanting more after she got raped. The only reason I didn't stop reading right there was because it was already very close to the end.Besides that, the sex scenes are really intense and graphic. There's no limit here, everyone has indiscriminate sex with anyone else, no matter the sex of the person anything goes even group sex. Though that wasn't specifically a bad thing, the theme of the book was bad. The historical innacuracies had me cringing. If an author is gonna write about a time period, they need more than just fancy speech and fashion to fit the time. Spoilers: A woman, marries for convenience a man around colonial times but they don't consumate the marriage. Somehow, although she's supposed to be inexperienced at a time where women were supposed to be virgins at their weddings, the author changes her mind at some point and the MC is not a virgin anymore. Also, the author writes about a little black girl whose mom was sold and taken to America as a slave but the buyer didn't want the little girl because she was just a kid so she ends up in an orphanage. Sorry, what? Did the author take a history class in high school or do any research before writing this? Slavers didn't care if the slave was a child or not! A slave child still meant money and would have never been abandoned at an orphanage.Obviously, I think the book was poorly written with a completely unacceptable scene and major obvious historical innacuracies and won't ever read another book from this author.

I purchased this book for free and was in doubt, but saw the high ratings and was curious. Once I read this novel it wss hard to put down. It had comical moments that were unexpected in this specific type of genre. The whole plot of the story revolved in how Vale didn't wanted his wife Harrietta to be a member of the Cavern of Pleasures. Vale is a patron, selects her with the purpose of frightening her, but gets surprised how determined she is in learning more about submission that she ends up going on every appointed day. You'll discover that the reason is that she feels unwanted and is angry at the thought of he having other lovers. At the end, everything is revealed.

This book though heavy on he BDSM also has a good story and characters you care about. The writing flows and keeps you engaged. And unlike many of the authors previous book you get the whole story at once, yeah!

This story starts with a BDSM scene between Vale and his submissive. We are shown his secret life. He is the senior Master at the Craven and has seen and done it all. He is not feeling the excitement that he used to feel when he masters a submissive. When he takes a break during one of his scenes, he is surprised to see his wife at the Craven. Vale and Harrietta's brother Harold, were best friends when they were younger and Harold made Vale promise that he will look after his sisters if anything happened to him, so when Harold passed away Vale's guilt ate at him, so he married Harrietta to ease his concious. Vale treats her as a sister and they haven't consummated the marriage yet. Harrietta is curious about the Craven and gets Vale's cousin to bring her there. When she steps forward to present herself as a submissive, Vale chooses her in order to protect her and tries everything as her Master ( she doesn't know it's him, as he wears a mask and wig ) to get her not to come back, but she does come back every time to prove a point and also because she can't help herself, she's intrigued.There is no penetration between them until nearly the end of the book, but when they do come together it's smoking HOT! Vale had always wanted a wife whom he could love and have a shared interest in his activities. And he finally found that with Harrietta.💓

Find a historical romance with BDSM themes is harder than it seems. This fit the bill and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book. Some of the side characters a bit weak, but it is a romance- erotic novel, so not a huge surprise. I really enjoyed bringing themes of BDSM to a historical setting. Showing how creative people got. Fun read.

Nancy Lamb is the author of the "Which Way Books"!!!!This books explores most if not all facets of writing with a focus on children stories. Very dense, her book offers enough information in each topic to get you started writing and to understand story structure. An excellent primer for beginners, the book serves well for experienced writers as a refresher. Lots of golden nuggets in each page. It is a book that will not remain on your shelf collecting dust. It's not the end all book on writing but will save you time and money from buying poor quality how to books on writing. Her style is very straightforward. She offers good examples to make her point as well as exercises at the end of each chapter geared to either the writing of your story or an element that raises your awareness to good writing. Buy the book. You won't be sorry.Also, Check out her new book "The Art and Craft of Storytelling"!!!!

Awesome resource with plenty of fun exercises for a writer!

I've always dreamed of writing a book for children, but wasn't sure where to start. For years, I've only written nonfiction and wanted a primer on creative writing for children. Ms. Lamb's book was wonderful - well-written, concise, easy to read, and it covered all aspects of writing for children (dialogue, character, plot, etc.) in a memorable and easy-to-digest fashion. A pleasure to read! I learned more from this book than in my college class on creative writing. I can't wait to get started after reading her book :) Thanks, Ms. Lamb!

I've been a writer all of my life but took five years off to get fat, dumb and pregnant -- over and over and over again. Well, those days are done and while I dwindle down to my pre-pregnancy size with a few extra sags and stretch marks, it's time to raise my kids and get back to writing. Needless to say, I needed a darn-good refresher course. After considering a $600 class, I decided against it and bought this book instead. For once, I made a great decision (and my pocket book agrees). This book was perfect in getting me back up to speed! It freshened up my creative skills, got me motivated to write again, and had all the necessary components needed to refreshen my skills. Best yet, at the end of each chapter there was an excercise to make sure I understood what I read. It was the best course in a book I could ask for. Nancy Lamb, you are the best! That was the best "slap in the creative juices" I could ask for!

I thought the writing prompts and ideas where fresh and useful. Not as deep as I was hoping, but it did provide some inspiration and helped get me past a few writers block moments. I would recommend it for people new to writing for children as opposed to the more experienced. The author provides helpful advice and tips as well as useful examples and tools for growing as a writer.

This book was helpful in learning to notice things in my writing that I need to work on. The author's tone is clear and friendly. Examples are provided so each craft point hits home. After reading this book I have been able to make better edits to my own writing. I would recommend this book to anyone who is writing a book for children!

I feel the author exceeded her claim; I found it useful crafting stories in general.For those who want more complex opinions on writing fiction there are many noted authors who wrote excellent texts on what in their opinion is excellent literature.The author fulfilled her pact with this very pleased reader and reviewer.

I've been a Masters of the Universe forever and had no idea these existed. Just by reading the Forward you realize the massive undertaking the creative team on this book had, collecting four years of rare or completely lost He-Man comic strips.It's a tall book. About 14 inches tall, so it won't fit comfortably on the book shelf with the other He-Man books in this Dark Horse series. It's not like a typical Peanuts or Flash Gordon collection which were better archived by their distributors. The team on this book actually had to search newspaper archives the world over, obtain any microfilm from libraries and scans from collectors. They also tried to address the few story gaps they had because some of the material could not be found, but overall this book is truly an impressive work and a fitting tribute to a lost art.

Great book full of stories most people have missed. Goes from Wave 4 of the Original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Line to Wave 1 of The New Adventures of He-Man Line. Art style is very similar to the Filmation Cartoons. As a kid of the 80's and a fan of He-man based on the classic FILMATION series, I had no idea that the story continued on in newspaper comic strip format, and for over four years no less! Suffice it to say, this book and its high quality came as quite a shock. Excellent collection and fun read! Highly recommended.You know I gotta say it: this book has the power!!!

While I was reading through the editorial page, I was quite amused by the fact that the existence of a daily strip for HE MAN was not well know. I have seens/read this strips in "The Telegraph" sunday magazines and knew that these do exist. However, since there were three things going in parallel at that time (the minicomics, the daily + sunday strips + the MOTU TV shows), it was difficult to relate them all together. This book makes a great effort to gather one of the finest works done with HE MAN and gives the chance to revisit the stories which I otherwise thought as being completely lost in the gulp of time.I haven't finished reading all the stories, but certainly these stories are more detailed and engaging than the minicomics ones. The luxury of strips gives one to furnish these details and rightly so. It makes me a little sad that some of the strips could not just be found, hoping someone still has them and makes it to the book in future. Kudos to the entire team for their mammoth effort to compile and catalog these documents. It feels great to walk again in the shoes of a teenager.

As a child of the '80's and a long time He-Man fan to boot, I was pleasantly surprised to find out this newspaper strip existed. I'm even more surprised by the quality of the story and art in this strip. This is classic Filmation He-Man adventure the way you remember it, except most of us have never been able to read these particular adventures until now. Painstakingly and lovingly compiled and restored (there is a fantastic article in the book describing this process) and beautifully presented by Dark Horse Comics. My only beef, and it is a minor one, is that it is presented with a high gloss printed hardcover and does not have a dust jacket.This is a good, old fashioned, rip roaring adventure strip, written with sophistication and humor for audiences of all ages. It stands high above the DC and Star Comic adaptations from the early 1980's and well deserves a place on your bookshelf next to Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon, Chester Gould's Dick Tracy, or whatever your favorite example of the comics medium may be. Well done all around. Thank you, Dark Horse!

My husband is obsessed with MOTU and it's hard to find gifts for him. I was excited to receive this and I flipped through it myself. It's a large heavy book, the comics are great, and the additional information in the book was awesome. My husband was impressed and thought it was the coolest find.The quality of the book was amazing, the listing said "used" but I find that hard to believe. It was in great condition.

This book made me young again!!! It was everything I remember He-Man being and more!!! I highly recommend this book for any Masters of the Universe fan!!!

Totally unreadable ! Its a total waste of money. I read "Chemical Dependency" for 30 CEU from Homestead School Inc., and that's much easier to read and understand. I also read Addiction for Nurses by Hussein Rassool.

Poorly written, far too broad on information not seen in ANY of the exams. Some content matches the exam, but this wanders far off base for certification content requirements and content. This is a monopoly sale, meaning this IS THE MAIN BOOK required for the exam! Not succinct enough compared to nearly any other specialty exam, or matching books. This specialty is in DESPERATE NEED OF COMPETITION! Please, someone else get certified THEN publish a book with focused content! Yes, I'm certified.

The content of the core curriculum book is very dated and has a plethora of statistical numbers strewn through it but very little up-to-date information about direct care of patients suffering from an addiction. Although the outline served as a good guide I only give it to stars because The content was really lacking

I agree that it's poorly written. There are lots of grammatical errors. The format is ok for an overview,but I was expecting much more detailed information. I am disappointed.

The whole book is basically in an outline format, not a readable narrative form. I have never seen a book written this way. It is so hard to understand because only key words and phrases are written down. I would not recommend this book.

This book contains inaccuracies. Much of the material is outdated. It is written in an outline format, which makes it choppy and sloppy. There apparently was no editing for grammar or punctuation.I have paid to join the organization. I have paid to take the test. As an Advanced Practice Nurse, I am embarrassed for this nursing organization.I will offer to edit your next edition for free. I was an English minor in college. I'd like to see my nursing organization put a better foot forward. Addiction is killing people. We can't be left learning from a book where most of the citations are from the 1980-90s.

No questions and answers. Dry, dry, dry. Not worth the money.
