Easy to read, well organized, thorough history of the Mennonites. Really helped to get the background of my Mennonite ancestors. Colored with favor for the Mennonite religion, but not so much as to reduce the value of the history. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to know how the Mennonites started and developed.

This was a super cute book. I bought it for my husband to read to the kiddos when I left for an 8-day business trip. They're still little, but I think this will be a great read for years to come as I have to travel from time to time. We are a working mom / stay-at-home dad family, and I felt like it was written in a very appropriate way for us.

After being a SAHM for five years, I recently started a job where I travel occasionally. I bought this book to help prepare my daughters (2 and 4 yo) for my first trip. We did the activities suggested in the book (make a calendar, for example). During the week I was away my husband kept reading the book to our girls. They did great! I really think this book helped them prepare for my absence and I highly recommend it.

I thought the book was fantastic for starting dialog about Mommy traveling. My little girl is a few months shy of 3 - so she doesn't completely grasp the concept of a "Mommy Calendar" or Mommy emailing her - but we were able to talk about Daddy giving her a bath and when Mommy comes home and what Mommy is doing while she's away.I do recommend it, even if it was geared a bit more for kids older than mine.

Mommy does travel, and this book comes out every time.

Although the book itself is great, this edition is CRAP!! The pictures, for which Howard Pyle was so famous, have been reproduced in some kind of cheap way so that they don't have ANY of the sharp, crisp lines of the original pictures!!!! Also, the type is TINY!!!! You'd need a magnifying glass to read it comfortably. So DO NOT waste your money on this large format, gray background book with an English castle on the cover. NO, NO, NO!!!!!

This is a nice new copy with a well-made sturdy cover. But I have NEVER seen such small print. There is nothing wrong with my eyesight and I have done a lot of reading in my life, but I will have a very difficult time reading this copy. I think that I will look to buy from another publisher instead of straining my eyes.

Howard Pyle's language is beautiful and draws a vision of a romantic era past. Recommended for any one young or old who enjoys a good tale and a look at not what once was, but what should have been

I have used all of Howard Pyle's books about King Arthur as read aloud books with my kids. My daughter (6) enjoys them as much as my son (8). They have become some of our favorite books. The language is beautiful. We have had to go to the dictionary at times for some of the words that are unfamiliar to us such as maugre, dolor, sucor etc. My two year old is frequently heard saying, "I'm Sir Lancelot of the Lake." We have enjoyed the King Arthur series so much that we hope to read all of Howard Pyle's books.

Wonderful stories but slow reading due to the author's use of "olde English." There are also unfamiliar words included that even Kindle did not have a definition for. This book is a challenge, but if any reader is up for wading through these stories of chivalry then there is reward to be had. It would have been nice if the author had chosen modern usage, but he exercised his prerogative to make the book more "authentic." A fun read for those with patience and an interest in knights, knighthood and King Arthur's court.

My daughter needed a biography for a 6th grade project. It was tricky finding a biography that was advanced enough yet still appropriate. This was a great compromise. It’s clean and inspiring and a real book that took her a couple of weeks to get through just reading at night.

Great story about a girl who lost her arm, because it got bitten by a shark. However, she never gives up on hope and in God, which is pretty impressive to me, because most likely teenagers would blame God for anything happens that they don't like.

This is of course several years old and it’s geared for young readers but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Bethany discusses the incident of the shark attack, her hospital stay and how it’s affected her life and surfing. She has a lot of faith which is what got her through as well as the support of her family and friends. Much respect to this young woman. A good, quick and interesting read.

This is better than I expected. The devotions are encouraging and inspirational. My daughter is a swimmer and several of the mentions of surfing can apply to any sport. I think this book would be good for any teen/tween girls, but is especially meaningful to athletes.

I was looking for an appropriate biography for my 6th grade daughter's book report assignment when I came across this book. She really enjoyed it and it was definitely age appropriate. The story was inspiring and entertaining. My daughter isn't a big fan of reading to begin with, but she really enjoyed this book.

Bethany is an inspiration to all! I'm glad I got this book and not the original. In this book she goes behind the scenes of her movie "Soul Surfer". At the end of the book she keeps a journal of the whole movie experience. From picking out the actors to the day the movie was released. It's so awesome to see whole process! I love how she was so open about her faith and just laid it out black and white, plain and simple. Even while filming the movie she would constantly tell the director(Sean McNamara) to keep her faith as the main focus of the movie. Not only did she want to be a inspiration to the world but she wanted to do it through Jesus Christ. This is a book for all ages. Even if she wrote this as a teenager she has the maturity and wisdom that goes way beyond that. I'm 22 years old and I found this book so compelling. I could not put it down! I to am a Christian and in this world we live in it so easy for girls to sell themselves out, especially being in Hollywood. Bethany said in her book that she wants to continue to stay humble and be a good example to young girls out there, even after being famous. How cool is that! Not only has this surfer shown how talented and ambitious she is but, she got to show the world that with Jesus all things are possible! Thanks Bethany! :)

This was a good book to read, I enjoyed hearing her story and how she made it through the experience and grew from it. Some of it was very obviously written by a very young author, but if she's telling in her own words then that's how it should be.

This is Stephen King at his best so don't miss this one.

If you are a Stephen King Constant Reader, sit back and enjoy or, if you are new to the King phenomenon, this is a great volume with which to get acquainted. "The Bazaar Of Bad Dreams" is a compelling compendium of 18 short stories and two poems , some old and revised, some new, ranging from 10 pages to 50 pages each.Some have a supernatural influence while most portray horrors associated with real life rather than ghosts, aliens, and monsters. This seems to bother some of the reviewers but in reality, King has broadened his genre considerably over the past two decades. The offerings are somewhat connected by King's comments on when or why he wrote each story and by related themes of death, afterlife, guilt, and remorse.King never shrinks from utilizing the English language as attested by some of his monumental tomes and continuing series. Yet he is equally renowned for his ability to write shorter concise and gripping stories as seen in his various collections of short stories and novellas over the years, many of which became screenplays.Caveat: if you read and absorb everything King as I do, you will encounter tales in this collection that you have encountered before in one form or another--such is the nature of collected short story volumes. But each has been revised and updated where appropriate. Having enjoyed King's tales of haunted cars, such as "Christine" and "From A Buick 8", I especially enjoyed "Mile 81" which should make any driver rethink stopping at a rest stop along any public roadway. "Afterlife" presents a thought provoking choice that newly departed spirits must make. And "Obits" is a fascinating tale of horror that while not new, is imminently re-readable.If you have read King's works over the past decades and matured in life as his legacy continued to grow, you should enjoy and appreciate this new collection; indeed, the new material makes the volume worthwhile to me regardless of whether I have previously read some of the stories. I am only rating it with four stars as I selfishly would have liked to see a few more original offerings.

I make no secret of that fact that Stephen King is my favorite modern writer. His short stories thrill me, on the whole. None of them are mediocre and of course I have my personal beloved. This new collection of stories, some fresh off the presses, some previously published, has not disappointed. Not all are in your face horror. In fact many are more like cautionary tales; be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.King’s ease of using colloquialisms and not sounding corny or disparaging is part of what makes his stories so believable. Even the most insane and diabolical becomes possible when written in King’s original styles. Yes, I said styles. Because he fits the style of his stories to the moods, the characters, and the settings, without blinking an eye. From college professors to a wealthy bedridden man to the average Joe, King rolls them all out for our inspection.I have my favorites in this collection as well. "Ur" and "Under the Weather" top the list.To sum it all up, this is a profoundly diverse collection of stories that once again showcases Stephen King’s skill at entertaining his readers. I can highly recommend it without reservation.

The only thing I may look forward to more than a new Stephen King novel is a new collection of his short stories. Yes, I love Stephen King, but even being a Constant Reader doesn't prevent me from being willing to admit that the man can - and often does - go long on his word count. There's something rewarding, then, to see King rein himself in, forcing himself to do as much as he can in a far lower number of words. Of course, this being King, that doesn't rule out some longer pieces here - Ur was originally a novella released as a sort of trial balloon for the Kindle Singles program, and Blockade Billy as well was a small standalone novella previously released by King. Others are far shorter, including two brief poems both originally published in Playboy. But whatever the length, The Bazaar of Bad Dreams serves as a reminder of both King's talent and prodigious gift, to say nothing of his stellar range. There's the unsettling alien horror of "Mile 81," the Raymond Chandler homage of "Premium Harmony," the black comedy of "Drunken Fireworks," the grim look at human nature of "Morality," the haunting case of ruined dreams of "Herman Wouk Is Still Alive," and so much more. Want deranged, insane narrators? Enjoy "Under the Weather." Want a bizarre tale of a young child who seems to be evil incarnate? "Bad Little Kid" is for you. Want to read what feels like a mix between the climax of Revival and King's stint in physical therapy? Oh, man, will "The Little Green God of Agony" scratch that itch and give you some nightmares to boot. But whatever the story, they're all filled with King's rich voice, his ability to evoke humanity in every character, and a keen eye about the world that always rings true. And just when you think you've seen it all, he tosses out the concluding story, "Summer Thunder," which is a very different sort of story about the end of the world - one that's far more beautiful and heartfelt than you might expect. All in all, it's a fantastic collection, and if, like me, you're initially disappointed that you've read a few already, well, trust me: they're all worth reading again, and between King's rich introductions and the revisions he's made (mainly to Ur, but apparently to many), you'll enjoy them all over again. It's a great collection, and a reminder of what King can do, even without a broad canvas of pages to work on.

When I bought my copy of Mastering the Art of Sous Vide: Unlock the Versatility of Precision Temperature Cooking I didnt think it would be much more than support of a chef that I have been following on social media for a number of years. I have a collection of his recipes on speed search for bragging to acquaintances and passing on to friends. I received my copy and started reading through it and realized how informative it is for a cooking style I have never tried. Tips and tricks that Justice passes on are very appreciative for the home cook. When I started reading through the recipes with mouth watering pictures...oh boy...I think I might be inspired to try the sous vide method of cooking. The recipes are easy to follow which is a blessing to us regular cooks. I think this book would be a valuable asset to any cooking library you have. Thanks Chef Justice. I look forward to following you to your next chapter.

I thoroughly enjoyed this cook book. The photography is very well done and there’s quite a variety of recipes, and tips if you’re new to sous vide. Some of the recipes feature ingredients I’ve never heard of, and some I know I wouldn’t be able to find locally. But these recipes also offer alternatives to those ingredients which is nice. Admittedly my palette is probably not refined enough to truly appreciate some of these I will be trying out quite a few.It’s not pretentious and the recipes are easily understood. Some cook books expect people to know things they learned years ago in culinary school but I didn’t see that here, more like a friend just trying to help me out and make something tasty.

So excited to receive this book. I can't believe all the amazing recipes this has. My wife just found the Fejoada recipe. Her Brazilian aunt makes this and we are excited to try it sous vide style. I bought it hoping to support a fellow sous vide nerd, but i'm blown away at the recipes and the quality if the book. Sous vide nerds buy this book!

Let me start off by saying: I'm not a chef by any stretch of the imagination. I got into sous vide last year and was immediately hooked by how easy it is to turn out an amazing meal with just a little planning.This promises to be an excellent, and helpful, cookbook. Definitely what I needed to up my sous vide game. The photos are breathtaking, and the recipes that I've had a chance to look at sound amazing.I'm getting a kick out of the chapter titles as well, I've always been a sucker for alliteration.Looking forward to working my way through this book, and definitely hope to see more published.

It is a nice cookbook and I like the general cooking time chart but these are way more fancier that my family would eat. One recipe is veal tongue. If you like fancy food and are not picky, this would be a great book. But if you are looking for more family meals, I would buy something different.

If I could give this book more stars I would! I am a former instructor of Culinary Arts. We have used may book in training students to become chefs. Mastering the Art of Sous Vide is very well written and has easy to follow recipes along with images. It also give you instructions and tips to help you learn with ease. I highly recommend this book for home cooks and chefs who are learning the art of sous vide.

Justice Stewart is a master of creating high end, gourmet recipes and adapting them to home kitchens. A time and temperature chart is super helpful too!

If you're ever in a position to hire, I would strongly recommend this book.Full disclosure, I know Zeljko personally, so there might be a slight bias in my rating. However, I'm not the one that easily agrees with others and when Zeljko was telling me about his hiring process I was sceptical to some aspects.After reading his book though, I'm convinced. In a very clear and data based manner he explained why certain commonly used and intuitive approaches to hiring (e.g. starting with reviewing CVs) don't work.

If you are looking for a clear scientific explanation of today's hiring best practices, Evidence-Based Hiring delivers. From job placement ads to interview questions, this book is a comprehensive resource for novice or experienced hiring managers.

If you have anything to do with hiring, this is a must read. Updating hiring practices is essential for success. Dont be intimidated by data! Zeljko makes it easy to understand and easy to implement.
